With less than 10 days until Christmas, it’s hard to believe the big day is almost here! If, like us, you still have a few (um, many) presents left to tick off the seemingly endless list, be inspired with our gift ideas. Happy shopping, lovelies…

Ultrasonic diffuser. The perfect gift for the health-conscious friend who has everything. A diffuser is a beautiful and therapeutic addition to every wholesome home (and bedroom!). Diffusers use heat to turn essential oils into vapour which is then dispersed throughout the room. Be sure to choose good quality essential oils (not fragrance oils which are packed with chemicals) to boost therapeutic properties, purify the air and to enhance mood and wellbeing. We love this one from Endota. Health coach, Bianca Chaptini, who we’ve joined forces with for our Reset.Renew January 2020 challenge, recommends a blend of the following festive-inspired oils: Siberian fir, pine, orange, vetiver, cinnamon and nutmeg.

T2 Infused tea jug. All true wellness junkies can be found sipping on fresh herbal brews year-round. When hot summer days call for extra hydration and what better way to satisfy your healthy friend’s thirst than a cooling homemade iced-tea? The perfect companion for the health aficionado who loves to entertain and wow their guests too, all while avoiding the sugar, preservatives, artificial flavours and colours that come with the store-bought versions. Impress your tea-loving pal further with a side of loose herbal leaf or tisane, and then all they need to bring to the (tea) party is water, ice and sliced citrus fruits. Cheers to that.

RMS Lip Shine in Bloom. The perfect stocking filler for the girly-girl with a health-conscious heart. This beautiful non-sticky lip balm slash gloss is a universally flattering shade that imparts a sheer petal-pink tint with a hint of natural shimmer for a ‘my-lips-but-better’ look. And with an all-natural coconut oil base you can be sure you’re avoiding harmful mineral oils, PEGs, synthetic fragrances and paraffin contained in mainstream lip products.

Indoor plants. Because one can never have enough indoor plants. They look lush, freshen up any space and, most importantly, purify our air. Even NASA are into them to help protect astronauts from harmful indoor air pollution. Wellness junkies will know that often our indoor air is more toxic than outdoor air thanks to mould and VOCs or volatile organic compounds which are harmful by-products of paint, furniture and carpets. Bianca recommends the following plants for the most potent air-purifying results: peace lily, dracaena marginata, dracaena deremensis or “Janet Craig”, dracaena deremensis “Warneckei”, gerbera daisy and English ivy. Note: the peace lily is one of the hardiest plants, perfect for those family and friends without a green thumb.

Body scrub. You can’t go wrong with a bit of self-care pampering at this time of year when we’re all feeling a little burnt out and ready for a much-needed break. The warmer months can leave us feeling extra dry and scaly, so it’s important to slough away all those dead skin cells to ensure your moisturisers and creams penetrate deeper and work their magic for luscious summer limbs. For the health devotee who has it all, a body scrub is a great Christmas gift option. Our favourites are: The Original Coffee Scrub by Frank Body, Grown Alchemist Purifying Body Exfoliant and Thank You Botanica Grapefruit and vanilla salt body scrub.

Slip silk pillowcase. Another great option for those fabulous fit friends who are hard to buy for. Not many people will splurge out on an exy pillowcase, but once they’ve experienced the pure lushness of a silk pillowcase, they won’t want to go back to any ordinary pillow slip. Ever. But you may be wondering why a pillow case falls into a healthy gift round up? More than just pure indulgence, the fibers in silk pillowcases are much less absorbent than other fibers such as cotton or polyester which means our (natural) creams and moisturisers stay on our skin and don’t end up all over our pillow! They also create less friction (say goodbye to those dreaded face lines and creases the next morning!) so that our skin instead will glide along the pillow and stay extra hydrated through the warmer months.

These are just a few ideas to help you out if you’re struggling for presents with a wellness focus. Ultimately, this is a special time and shopping for others should be a fun, joyful experience. Try not to let the stress of the silly season take a toll on you and your health. Remember to nourish yourself with plenty of self-care. For your precious and unique body, that may mean more sleep, rest, deep breathing, movement, home-cooked foods or all of the above. Or, a home-made treat is always a thoughtful gesture and we think Bianca’s three-seed goji granola, when packaged beautifully in a glass jar with festive ribbon, makes a great gift for your fit fam bam.
Bianca’s three seed goji granola
Serves 6-8
INGREDIENTS:
- 3 cups gluten-free oats (if you can’t find gluten-free, look for organic oats)
- 4 tablespoons coconut oil, melted
- 2 teaspoons cinnamon
- 3 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 3 heaped tablespoon maple syrup, date syrup or rice malt syrup
- 6 tablespoon sunflower seeds
- 6 tablespoon pumpkin seeds
- 2 heaped tablespoon sesame seeds
- 4 tablespoons goji berries
- ¼ cup shredded coconut
- Preheat oven to 180 degrees.
- Mix all ingredients, except for the goji berries and coconut, in a large bowl ensuring everything is evenly coated.
- Turn the temperature down to 150 degrees and transfer the mixture to a deep ovenproof baking dish.
- Bake for about 30 minutes or until nice and golden. Check a few times to stir mixture and ensure an even golden result. Remove from the oven, allow to cool, and stir through goji berries and coconut.
- Once mixture is completely cooled, store in an airtight jar or container for up to four weeks (in the fridge is best).
