Being successful in something requires dedication and hard work. The road to success is never easy and you will face stumbling rocks, twists, and turns... Achieving your ideal fitness goal can be extremely challenging, and it involves plenty of sweat and tears. Unfortunately, it is far easier for you to sabotage your fitness success than meeting your fitness goals. Let's take a look at some ways you can ensure success, rather than self-sabotaging your journey.
Set Realistic Goals
It is essential to set achievable goals before you begin your fitness journey. However, in today's fast-paced world we all want everything 'now' which results in sometimes setting unrealistic goals. And when you don’t reach them, we lose motivation and get discouraged and ultimately give up. You need to be realistic and challenge yourself more than what you normally would - but not so much that they are unobtainable. Set both short and long-term goals. For example, if your goal is to lose 20kgs in 24 months. Then set yourself smaller goals along the way - lose 5kgs within 3mths, only have one cheat meal per week and 3 workouts EVERY week. This will help keep you on track and enjoy smaller wins along the way. Check out our blog on SMART goals for a detailed goal-setting plan that WORKS!
Run Your Own Race
It’s human nature for us to compare ourselves to others. And often it can inspire us to be better. But sometimes it also brings us down.
On your fitness journey, comparing yourself to others will not get you anywhere. When it comes to fitness, there are many factors that will play a role in your success. You need to focus on you and what you can do to achieve your goals - and not worry about the girl next to you. In this 'insta' world - remember sometimes that smokin' pic of that gorgeous girl has taken 500 shots to get that one perfect pic of their abs!
What the mind believes, the body will achieve
As the saying goes 'what the mind believes the body will achieve'. Kick off with positive thoughts - having negative thoughts, or being too harsh on yourself does nothing to help and only discourages you. It is essential to stay positive and be patient.
Being successful takes time. We see 'success' stories and feel as though they are a dime a dozen. But the reality is - success is always the result of hard work, dedication, perseverance and commitment. And so it should be. Otherwise everyone would be able to achieve it and it would not be classified as a success!
Before you get started with us, sit down and workout what you want to achieve. And if you want us to keep you accountable let us know. We believe that if you write down your goals and tell someone about them you are more likely to achieve them. If you are just doing it for fun - then hey we are with you all the way (you can never have too much fun!). But if it is specific results you are after then we are here to motivate, support and be your cheerleader.
Tell us in the comments below what you are wanting to achieve.
