Aleenta BARRE Hits Glenelg With Studio Partners Tara & Wes Cotter.

We are super excited to announced our first SA Studio Partners (franchisees) Tara & Wes Cotter who will be opening their first Aleenta BARRE in Jetty Road Glenelg on 10 September. Tara became a barre devotee after attending our Mawson Lakes Studio and loved it so much - she bought a franchise :) We spoke to Tara about her journey to becoming a Studio partner...

1. How did you find barre?

About 2 years ago I had lost all motivation for exercise when a girlfriend from work started talking about barre. I was intrigued. I started researching studios in Adelaide and came across Aleenta BARRE in Mawson Lakes. I decided to give it a go and booked a Barre Burn class. I still remember Bec (the tender) greeting me and saying "Take as many breaks as you need." I thought at the time "Breaks? How hard can this be?" Anyone who has ever attended any type of barre class knows exactly how hard that first class is...I absolutely loved it and haven't looked back!

2. What is your background?

I have a Bachelor Degree in Junior Primary / Primary teaching. I am currently team teaching 54 loud, chaotic, innovative and gorgeous year 6/7 students. I am a believer in life-long learning and want to share and follow this philosophy throughout my lifetime.

3. What do you love most about barre?

What I love most about Aleenta BARRE is the tenders. They all come from diverse backgrounds, whether it's dance, yoga, pilates or personal training, and have undertaken Aleenta Barre's Tender Training. What this means is, that no matter which class you attend, you have an experienced professional guiding you every step of the way. They all make you feel comfortable and welcomed, but at the same time they challenge you to make sure you are getting the most out of your workout.

4. Why did you want to become a Studio Partner with Aleenta BARRE?

I wanted to become a studio partner because I fell in love with the Aleenta BARRE brand. Going to class isn't a chore, it's a break from reality. The studios are gorgeous, booking class is a breeze and the service from both the tenders and office staff is exceptional. I wanted to become apart of a great, local brand and share my passion for barre with others, just like myself, who are looking for something new and unique.

5. What are your favourite barre exercises?

I am currently 5 months pregnant so I am loving Yoga Barre. The yoga and stretching combinations are helping me maintain my flexibility, stretch out any aches and pains and feel connected with bubs. I also have a love/hate relationship with any chair pose!

6. Your studio will be opening in Glenelg, what are your top places to check out by the bay? Especially after a barre class :P

My husband (Wes) and I LOVE food! So we enjoy checking out the cafes along Jetty Road. For brunch we love 'Raw' on Chapel Street; they serve gorgeous whole foods and delicious coffee. We also love taking a 'Beach Burrito' down to the beach for a quick and easy sunset dinner.

7. If you weren't at barre, what would you be doing?

We have recently moved to the beach and are loving the relaxed lifestyle. Therefore we are quite content spending time at our local beaches, whether it's walking, riding or training with our pup Indi.

8. What is your top tip for new barre students?

One piece of advice I would give to any new or existing student is "quality over quantity." It is important to listen to the tenders and take the time to teach your body the correct alignments for each posture and movement. Trust me your body will thank you for it.
